east hill twins
17 Worsley Str, East Hill
The East Hill Twins project presented a familiar yet complex challenge: optimizing a narrow-frontage block in a dynamically developing area of western Sydney, while ensuring urban aesthetic requirements, reasonable budget constraints, and future profit potential were all met.
East Hill is an area planned as the second sub-center expansion alongside Sydney CBD, with a young, multicultural, and dynamic residential community. This strategic location presents significant opportunities but also places stringent design requirements. The narrow block is not only spatially limited but also demands careful consideration of urban landscape and overall planning.
The decision to implement a dual occupancy model might seem to congest the block, but in reality, it's a smart design strategy.
By creating two independent homes within a unified architectural mass, we achieved three core objectives:
- Urban aesthetics: An impressive, substantial street frontage that aligns with area planning without revealing the internal division
- Cost optimization: Shared party walls, infrastructure, and construction costs, significantly reducing initial investment
- Investment flexibility: Creating two independent assets that can be sold separately or leased, increasing liquidity and profit potential
The biggest challenge with narrow blocks is avoiding confinement, and our solution creates seamless indoor-outdoor connections from living room through alfresco to pool and garden. Natural materials like timber and stone bring warmth and harmony with outdoor green spaces, creating a living environment that is both refined and relaxed.
With a narrow frontage, we maximized block depth using strategically positioned skylights and high windows to draw natural light deep inside, while cross-ventilation harnesses natural airflow to minimize air conditioning dependence. The pool serves as both recreation and microclimate regulator, providing natural cooling and humidity, while the layered garden design optimizes green space within the limited area.
East Hill Twins is testament to our design philosophy: no block is too small or too difficult, only solutions that aren't creative enough. By combining smart business thinking with refined architectural artistry, we've created two homes that not only meet but exceed investor expectations.
For prospective homeowners seeking solutions for narrow blocks, East Hill Twins is a reminder that: spatial limitations can become catalysts for innovation, and smart design can transform challenges into opportunities.
